附:听力录音原文:
(Text 1)
W: Is there anything I can do for you?
M: Well, I'd like to buy some socks and a white shirt with short sleeves, please.
(Text 2)
W: Did you go to the cinema yesterday evening?
M: Yes. It was supposed to start at 8:00, but it was delayed half an hour.
(Text 3)
M: What did you do in Hainan?
W: Oh, quite a lot. I played tennis, went swimming, and even took pictures with a snake, which I once hated so much.
(Text 4)
M: Jim looks very nervous, doesn’t he?
W: Yes, I’m afraid he is not used to making speeches.
(Text 5)
W: I really don’t like the way Ted controls the conversation all the time. If he is going to be at the Christmas party, I won’t come.
M: I’m sorry you feel that way. But my mother insists that he come.
(Text 6)
M: Hello, is that you, Cindy?
W: Oh, hello, Mike. How are you?
M: Quite well, thank you. I’m calling to ask if it would be all right to visit you this weekend.
W: Certainly. What time will you be coming?
M: Will 10 o’clock be convenient for you?
W: Yes, I guess so.
M: I wonder if I could bring my girlfriend along.
W: Yes, why not? I’d love to meet her.
M: I’d like to ask a favor of you, if I may.
W: Yes, what is it?
M: My girlfriend is quite interested in cooking. Would you mind teaching her?
W: Of course not. You know, I like cooking. I think it will be fun to show her how to cook.
(Text 7)
W: What time is it now?
M: Let me look at my watch. Oh, it’s nine-thirty already.
W: Though today is Saturday, it's time for us to get up, or we'll have a real late breakfast.
M: We can have brunch in a Chinese restaurant for a change.
W: What is brunch?
M: It's a meal between breakfast and lunch. Many people prefer brunch on Saturdays.
W: All right. Come on. You don’t have to wear that much. It’s warm today, much warmer than yesterday.
M: How do you know?
W: I listened to the weather forecast on TV last night.
(Text 8)
W: Do you have any other pastime besides stamp collecting?
M: Yes, fishing.
W: That’s very popular, too.Every time I pass the lake, I see many people sitting there with a rod in hand, but I’ve never seen anyone catch anything.
M: Maybe it’s because you lack the patience.
W: I would break my rod if I sat about for hours getting nothing.
M: Oh, look at that man’s pole. It’s bent like a bow. There must be a huge fish on the end of the line. Let’s go over and have a look.
W: OK. Wow, what a big fish!
M: So it is interesting to fish with a rod sitting at the lake. Say, what do you often do in your spare time?
W: Oh, nothing special. I read, watch TV and go to movies.
M: Don’t you have any hobbies, like stamp collecting or things like that?
W: No, I don’t have any hobbies.
(Text 9)
M: Hello, is that you, Mrs. Daniel? This is Mr. Smith, headmaster of the junior high school.
W: Oh, hello. Mr. Smith. What is it?
M: It’s about Tom. He had a slight accident, but there is nothing to worry about.
W: An accident? Is he hurt? Where is he? How did it happen?
M: The coach says there is something wrong with his left foot. It’s painful, of course, but nothing serious.
W: Has the doctor seen him?
M: Tom’s on his way to King’s Hospital right now. He should be in the emergency room within half an hour.
W: Oh, sorry to hear that. I’ll drive there in no time.
(Text 10)
I suppose science has made big steps in making food more fit to eat. However, it has also made many foods unfit to eat.
Why? About 80% of human illnesses are related to food and 40% of cancer is related to food. That food is related to illness is a new discovery. For example, things commonly used to keep color in meat and other food additives cause cancer.
Also, farmers often give some medicine to their animals. So, the medicine can be found in the milk of treated cows. Some farmers try to fatten the animals in order to get a higher price on the market. Don’t you think it is terrible?
The government should do something to deal with such affairs.
